India Bans Telegram Ahead of Medical Entrance Exam

India has temporarily banned the use of Telegram app, ahead of a crucial medical entrance exam, due to concerns it may be used for cheating.

India’s National Testing Agency made the announcement few days to the rescheduled National Eligibility Entrance Test for Undergraduates on June 21.

Millions of students are expected to retake the examination, after the initial test in May was cancelled over allegations of a paper leak through Telegram by cheating rackets.

However, internet users and rights activists have criticised the ban, saying it was not enough to tackle a much larger problem of exam fraud.
