NAFDAC Uncovers Counterfeit Cialis 20mg Tablets Selling at N47,000 Less Market Value for Original

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAF, has warned about the distribution and sale of counterfeit Cialis 20mg tablets in Nigeria.

NAFDAC disclosed in a statement on its social media page that it confirmed the circulation of the counterfeit version of the Cialis tablets through the help of the company that holds the marketing authorization in Nigeria, which it said was discovered through market surveillance in Abuja.

The agency disclosed that the counterfeit Cialis 20mg tablets are being sold openly in the market at an average price of Eight Thousand Naira per pack, as against the genuine product, which is retailed at about Fifty-Five Thousand per pack.

It said further examination of the counterfeit product showed that it is not consistent with the authentic Cialis 20mg packaging and quality specifications.

NAFDAC is alerting the public to the distribution and sale of counterfeit Cialis 20mg tablets in Nigeria.

According to Chi Pharmaceutical Ltd, the Marketing Authorisation Holder (MAH) for Cialis 20mg film-coated tablets (NRN: 04-5196), a counterfeit version was discovered during routine market surveillance by the MAH's field sales representatives in Abuja.

It was reported that the counterfeit Cialis 20mg tablets are being sold openly in the market at an average price of ₦8,000 per pack, contrary to the genuine product, which is retailed at about ₦55,000 per pack. Further examination of the counterfeit product showed that it is not consistent with the authentic Cialis 20mg packaging and quality specifications.
