NIGER DELTA YOUTH COUNCIL DARES FG OVER STATE OF EMERGENCY IN RIVERS STATE

The leadership of the Niger Delta Youth Council Worldwide has called on the Federal Government on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reverse the suspension of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and the Deputy Governor, Professor Ngozi Nma-Ordu.

The NDYC said failure by President Tinubu to meet its demand, the Federal Government should be ready to face what it called ‘inflatable’ anger.

The National President of the group, Chief Ambassador Bene Mamamu, who made the demand in a statement, said the current situation in Rivers State was an imposition of military dictatorship on the people.

However, Chief Ambassador Mamamu said that the NDYC had withdrawn its initial seven-day ultimatum to President Tinubu to reverse the suspension on the Governor and his deputy.

The Niger Delta youth leader said the decision is in the interest of the continuous unity of the nation and coexistence under a democracy and rule of law.

He appealed to Rivers people to remain calm and peaceful as efforts are on top gear to reverse the emergency declaration in the state and suspension of the elected officials.

On the issue of threats to oil installations in the Niger Delta, the youth leader cautioned against such act and pledged the commitment of the group to assist security agencies to bring such persons to justice.
