Nigeria Take on Cameroun in Second Friendly Game

Nigeria's women national football team, the Super Falcons, will be determined to bounce back today, after suffering a one-zero defeat to their Cameroonian rivals on Saturday in the first of two international friendlies held in Yaoundé.

The two African giants meet again today at the Military Stadium in Yaoundé, wrapping up the two-match series arranged by their respective football federations as part of preparations for this year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations finals.

Saturday’s loss marked Nigeria’s first 90-minute defeat to African opposition since their third-place playoff match against Zambia at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Nigeria will head into the 2026 WAFCON as defending champions, drawn in Group C alongside Zambia, Egypt, and tournament debutants Malawi.

Meanwhile, Cameroon have been placed in Group D, where they will take on Ghana, Mali, and Cape Verde, at this year’s tournament in Morocco.

The tournament is scheduled to hold from March 17 to April 3 and four semi-finalists at the 2026 WAFCON will earn automatic qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
