POLICE ARREST 8 SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS FOR CULTISM IN IFO, OGUN STATE
Operatives from the Ifo Divisional Police Station in Ogun State have arrested eight students of the Ifo High Court for alleged involvement in cultism.
The students were alleged to have engaged in the act within the school premises, and they were arrested in collaboration with the authorities of the school.
The spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola said the Vice Principal of Ifo High School, Mr. Alako Oluwole, alongside a teacher identified as Mr. Akinseku Oloruntoba Julius reported the activities of the students.
The PPRO said the affected students, who are between ages fifteen and sixteen, were allegedly involved in cult-related activities, perpetuating disturbances and extorting valuables from fellow students.
The PPRO said preliminary investigations revealed that the students were members of a cult group known as Future Guys or F.T.G, adding that they were allegedly initiated by two senior students, identified as Ebenezer Ope and Ebenezer Tobi, who are both in SSS 1.
She said that the State Police Command had commenced a thorough investigation to determine the extent of cult activities in the school, while those that were arrested would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department upon the conclusion of preliminary investigation.
Furthermore, Omolola Odutola said that the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Idowu, had directed that the students in custody should be brought before him on the next working day for further interviews where other referrals for counselling and mentoring will be organized.
