Police Intercept Truck Conveying 47 Sacks of Army Camouflage in Lekki, Lagos
Police have intercepted a vehicle transporting forty-seven sacks of military camouflage uniforms along the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, FATAI TIJANI, made the announcement while briefing newsmen at the command headquarters in Ikeja.
CP TIJANI said the truck conveying the military camouflage was heading to a location in the southeastern part of the country.
TIJANI said the breakthrough was recorded by operatives of Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, adding that eighty cartons of suspected illicit substances were also recovered from the truck.
The Commissioner of Police said four suspects were arrested in connection with the seizures, and there are assisting investigators in ongoing efforts to identify and arrest those behind the suspicious consignment.
In a statement released by the Command's spokesperson, it says "operatives of the Lagos State Police Command, acting on credible intelligence, intercepted an unregistered MAN diesel truck at the exit point of Lagos State conveying forty-seven (47) sacks of military camouflage uniforms and eighty (80) cartons of drugs suspected to be illicit substances. Four suspects have been arrested and in Police custody
"Preliminary investigation revealed that the military camouflage uniforms were allegedly being transported to the Eastern part of the country. Investigation is ongoing to determine the source, ownership, and intended recipients of the recovered items, as well as the extent of the suspects’ involvement. Efforts are also ongoing to apprehend other persons connected with the criminal act.
