RESIGNATIONS HIT APC, PDP, AS ADC UNVEILS NEW COALITION LEADERS
The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have been hit by the resignation of some of their prominent figures.
Among those who quit the APC is former Rivers State governor and immediate-past minister of transportation, ROTIMI CHIBUIKE AMAECHI, and former attorney-general and minister of justice, ABUBAKAR MALAMI.
On the side of the PDP, former Senate President, DAVID MARK resigned to take up the position of National Chairman of the ADC from the founding chairman of the party, RALPH NWOSU.
In his resignation letter addressed to Otukpo Ward Chairman of the PDP in Benue State, Senator MARK said his decision was based on deepening internal divisions, unresolved leadership crisis, and irreconcilable differences in the party.
Other prominent members of the 2027 coalition, including former vice president ATIKU ABUBAKAR, attended the formal unveiling of the interim leadership of the ADC at the Musa Yar’Adua International Conference in Abuja.
The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, PETER OBI, was also present, as well as former governor of Kaduna State, Malam NASIR EL-RUFAI, among several others.
In his remarks, RALPH NWOSU said that all members of the previous Executive of the ADC decided to resign to make room for the new leadership of the party.
He also performed a symbolic presentation of the ADC membership cards to Senator DAVID MARK as Interim National Chairman of the party, and RAUF AREGBESOLA as Interim National Secretary.
