SENATOR GEORGE AKUME REMAINS AS SGF - FG

The Federal Government has refuted claims in some quarters that Senator GEORGE AKUME had resigned as Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

The Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the SGF, SEGUN IMOHIOSEN, made the clarification in a statement following reports over the weekend claiming that Senator AKUME had been replaced.

IMOHIOSEN noted that the information about the removal of Senator AKUME as SGF was entirely false, misleading, and lack any basis in fact, adding that President BOLA TINUBU had no intention of doing so.

The Office of the SGF urged the public, media organisations, and digital platforms to discountenance such rumours and to exercise caution as well as verify the authenticity of information before dissemination.

It said such consideration was necessary to avoid spreading of unverified or intentionally false narratives that undermine public trust and threaten the integrity of public institutions.
