SEXUAL HARASSMENT SCANDAL: SENATE REFUTES CLAIM OF ALLEGED PLOT TO ARREST SENATOR NATASHA AKPOTI-UDUAGHAN
The Nigerian Senate has denied knowledge of any plot to arrest Kogi-West Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, over her comments at the Inter-Parliamentary Union event held in New York, USA.
The embattled Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan had used the global platform to draw attention to her plight, following her suspension from the Senate for six month, which she alleged was a ploy to cover up her sexual harassment allegation against the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
Akpoti-Uduaghan had alleged plans to arrest her upon her arrival in Abuja, claiming that Senate President Akpabio had sent staff to “evacuate” her from the UN premises.
However, the Senate Spokesman, Adeyemi Adaramodu, said that Senate President Godswill Akpabio and the Senate have no reason to engage with Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan on the matter.
In a press statement that was sent out early Monday morning, Senator Adaramodu dismissed the claim by Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, saying that was “looking for her lost content creation needle in a haystack.”
“If she’s being haunted by her unguarded vituperations against Nigeria at the IPU in faraway New York, she should spare the Senate, which is not ready to be her accomplice in such a sordid voyage,” he stated.
