ATIKU Mourns 32 People Killed by Terrorists in Sokoto

Former Vice President of Nigeria, ATIKU ABUBAKAR, says he has received reports of the killing of about thirty-two persons at Ungushi community, in Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

ATIKU ABUBAKAR, who is the 2027 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, says he feels devastated by the incident and extends his sympathy to the bereaved families and the people of Sokoto State.

In a message shared on his social media handles, ATIKU ABUBAKAR said condolences are no longer enough to assuage the wanton killing of Nigerians in violent crimes.

He wondered how many more citizens must be slaughtered before the government begins to treat the protection of human life as an emergency.

The opposition politician challenged the Federal Government to move from condolences to action, and take steps to strengthen intelligence, secure vulnerable communities and bring the perpetrators to justice.

He said the first duty of government is to protect life, adding that Nigerians cannot continue to bury their loved ones while those entrusted with their security offer excuses.

Meanwhile; troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have foiled an attempted mass abduction by terrorists and rescued nine victims, including an infant, during an operation in Zamfara State.

The incident occurred on Sunday, August 16, in Unguwar Rogo Village, in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State, North-West of Nigeria.

The spokesman for the Joint Task Force, Operation Fansan Yamma, Lieutenant Colonel ALIYU DANJA said in a statement that troops received a distress about the infiltration of the terrorists led by one MALLAM SHUAIBU.
