Trabzonspor Confirms CHIBUIKE NWAIWU Injury Worries
Turkish side, Trabzonspor, has confirmed that Nigerian defender, Chibuike Nwaiwu is to be sidelined for a period after he picked up a thigh injury in Friday’s 3–1 Turkish Super Lig triumph over Fatih Karagumruk.
Medical assessments, including an MRI scan, revealed bleeding and swelling in the inner thigh muscles of his left leg. Although the club has not disclosed a recovery timeline, the 22-year-old has already begun rehabilitation under the team’s medical staff.
The development is particularly unfortunate given his standout performance in the same match, where he scored twice shortly after the interval to help secure victory. Since arriving from Wolfsberger AC in the January transfer window, Nwaiwu has made a strong impression, contributing to three goals in nine appearances.
The setback could jeopardize his hopes of earning a first invitation to the Nigeria national football team, as His name had frequently surfaced as a leading contender for inclusion in Nigeria national football team head coach Eric Chelle’s squad for a scheduled four-nation invitational tournament later this month.
