WAFU-B U17 Boys Tournament: Golden Eaglets off to Yamoussoukro
The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria are traveling to Cote d’Ivoire today for the WAFU-B Under-Seventeen tournament in the city of Yamoussoukro.
In preparing for the tournament, the Nigerian Under-Seventeen team played a total of thirteen friendly matches, winning ten, drawing two and losing only one.
The Eaglets, who are five-time world champions, will begin their Group-B campaign against the Baby Cheetahs of Benin Republic on Wednesday next week, September 24, before taking on Burkina Faso.
The Group A teams in the WAFU-B tournaments include the hosts Cote d’Ivoire, as well as Niger Republic, Ghana and Togo.
Matches will be played at the Stade du Lycée Scientifique in Yamoussoukro, which has a natural turf and was constructed for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
