WRONGFUL ACCUSATION: OBI PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR EDUCATION OF 2023 PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN SENSATION, QUADRI YUSUF ALABI

2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has promised to ensure that Quadri Yusuf Alabi, who was wrongfully accused of armed robbery and remanded at the Kiri-Kiri prisons in Lagos State, gets a proper education.

Quadri Yusuf Alabi first came to limelight when a photo of him standing before Peter Obi's motorcade during one of his campaign rallies in Lagos flooded the internet, thereby making him a social media sensation.

However, popular human rights lawyer, Inibehe Offiong, who took up the case, said some area boys around Amukoko axis where Quadri lives, connived with some police officers to set up the boy for alleged armed robbery with four other adult male unknown to the boy.

After Quadri was released from prison based on the advice of the Director of Public Prosecution that he had no case against him, Peter Obi said the teenage boy endured an unjust and illegal incarceration.

Obi expressed gratitude to the lawyer, Inibehe Offiong who fought for the release of the boy, and also to fearless government critic, Dele Farotimi and Ms Hassana Nurudeen, saying that their constant intervention was instrumental in securing justice for the young lad.

"I listened to Quadri today, and one thing stood out clearly: his unwavering desire for education. Despite all he has been through, his only dream is to return to school and complete his education and I will make sure he gets it" Obi assured in a statement.

The former governor of Anambra State observed that Quadri's determination is not just inspiring, as it marks a call to action, adding that he was committed to ensuring that he gets the education he desires and deserves.

Obi
"In addition, we must not stop at his release. Those responsible for his illegal incarceration must be held accountable. As we strive to build a Nigeria where fairness and integrity prevail, we cannot afford to allow such acts of criminality to go unpunished" Peter Obi insisted.
