ABIA STATE GOVERNOR SHOWCASES INVESTMENT POTENTIALS IN UKWA WEST, AS ROAD RECONSTRUCTION BEGINS
Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has flagged off the reconstruction of the Obehie-Umudobia-Owaza Road in Ukwa West Local Government Area.
Governor Otti said the 11.1km road is part of ongoing commitment of his administration to the social contract with Ndị Abia.
The Governor said the road will enhance connectivity and economic opportunities within the communities in Ukwa West.
Aside from roads, he said the administration was also addressing issues like power and water supply, adding that he had directed the Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities to assess the situation and provide remedies.
He described Ukwa as the land of "liquid gold", which had endured years of neglect.
The Governor further revealed during the flag-off ceremony that the Federal Government had approved the establishment of a modular refinery within the Abia Industrial and Innovation Park (AIIP) at Owaza.
He said that the refinery was being built by H.I.S Refining and Petrochemical Company Limited, adding the road construction would boost the marketability and viability of the AIIP and attract more investors to Ukwa West region.
The Governor also said that he had acknowledged the request for the construction of the Umuezeke, Obokwe, and Ngwaiyiekwe roads, and had made provisions for the projects in the 2025 budget.
