Abia State Govt Shops for $1.3b for Medical City Project

The Abia State Government is sourcing for about One-Point-Three Billion Dollars for the development of a medical city project.

Governor ALEX OTTI says the land for the project has been acquired and the access roads are being built to show the readiness of his administration.

Governor OTTI said the objective of the medical city project is to tap from the huge resources that affluent Nigerians spend annually on medical tourism.

He made this known in a presentation on the investment potentials in Abia State during the opening session of the Invest Lagos 3.0 programme, hosted by the Lagos State Governor, BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU.

Governor OTTI observed that Lagos had become overpopulated, stressing the need for the development of other parts of the country through investments on infrastructure for economic growth.

OTTI said Abia State has the population to support new investment opportunities, adding that the commercial city of Aba has proven to be the hub for industrial innovations, with a skilled population to produce goods with global competitiveness.

To show the readiness of the government to open up the market, Governor OTTI said his administration has invested heavily in power infrastructure with a view to ensuring sufficient energy supply for commercial and domestic uses.

He also said that funds have channeled road construction to boost transportation, with the acquisition of electric vehicles for the state-run mass transit scheme, for enhanced connectivity for people and goods across Abia communities.
