Fleeing Soldier Wanted for Supplying Military Uniform to Terrorists Captured

The Nigerian Army has announced the arrest of one of its personnel, Private MOHAMMED YUSUF, who was declared wanted for alleged supply of military uniform to terrorists and other criminal gangs.

Private MOHAMMED YUSUF, 23NA/84/1939, was declared wanted on July 23, after fleeing his duty post at the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory, Lagos.

He was captured by Troops of Operation HADIN KAI at about 6:30p.m, on July 25, 2026, following credible human intelligence.

Captain MOHAMMED GONI, the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (Northeast) Operation HADIN KAI, confirmed the arrest of Private YUSUF.

Captain GONI said the suspect was apprehended at Jidari Bus Stop, in Maiduguri, Borno State, while allegedly attempting to flee to the Republic of Cameroon.

He said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect absconded from his unit on July 7, 2026, and subsequently relocated to Maiduguri, and went into hiding in the Gomari Costain area of Jere Local Government Area.

The Army spokesman said the suspect is currently in the custody of 7 Provost Group, where further investigation is ongoing to establish the full extent of his activities and identify other individuals who may have been involved.

He said the arrest of the suspect underscores the effectiveness of intelligence-driven operations and the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to holding personnel accountable for actions that undermine military ethics, discipline and national security.
