INEC Blacklist Transporters, Investigates Staff Over FCT Council Election Shortfalls

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has identified some of its employees who were responsible for the shortfalls recorded during the Area Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory last Saturday.

INEC Chairman, Professor JOASH AMUPITAN, says the identified personnel of the commission will face investigation over shortfalls recorded during the elections in Kuje and Kabusa areas.

Professor AMUPITAN also said that transporters who were responsible for the delay in the movement of logistics to the Kwali area council will also be blacklisted.

AMUPITAN made this known while reviewing the conduct of the FCT elections during a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners at the INEC headquarters in Abuja.

The INEC review meeting also covers the conduct of bye-elections for two state constituencies in Rivers and Kano states.

The meeting is also opportunity for INEC leadership to get feedback and address concerns by Resident Electoral Commissioners on preparations for the 2027 general elections.
