NDC Presidential Campaign Council: OBI, KWANKWASO Get Concession on Nomination of Key Officials

The national leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has given its presidential candidate, PETER OBI, and his running mate, RABIU KWANKWASO, a free hand to nominate key members of the party’s 2027 presidential campaign council.

NDC’s National Publicity Secretary, OSA DIRECTOR, says OBI and KWANKWASO are to nominate the Campaign Council’s Director-General, Deputy Director-General (North), Campaign spokesman, Deputy spokesman, Head of New Media, Finance Director, Deputy Finance Director, among others.

OSA DIRECTOR said the decision was reached in consultations between the party’s National Leader, Senator SERIAKE DICKSON, the leadership of the NDC, together with PETER OBI and RABIU KWANKWASO.

DIRECTOR said the arrangement was designed to promote inclusiveness and cohesion in the campaign structure, adding that organisational structure of the campaign council had been prepared since August.

He said the leadership of the NDC also approved a campaign financing structure for the party, requiring that funds raised would be paid into the presidential campaign account, which is to be jointly managed by officials nominated by PETER OBI and RABIU KWANKWASO, and the party’s National Treasurer.

He said the Campaign Council’s Finance Director and the Deputy Finance Director would work with the National Treasurer to ensure transparency and accountability, as the party was required to render accounts to the Independent National Electoral Commission in line with the Electoral Act 2026.

The spokesman said the NDC leadership appealed to all candidates of the party at all levels to restrain their supporters and support groups to avoid internal rancour and focus on the need to win elections.
