OGUN STATE POLICE COMMAND BOOST SECURITY FOR SALLAH CELEBRATION
Residents of Ogun State have been assured of their safety during and after the Ramadan holiday, which marks the conclusion of the fasting period.
Recognizing this festive tradition, the Ogun State Police Command says it has developed an operational order to ensure security, as holiday revelers, guests, and residents are advised to remain vigilant, prioritize their safety, report suspicious activities and be cautious of strangers or scams that may target unsuspecting individuals to defraud them of their money or valuables.
The Command said the public can expect to see queues at designated checkpoints with police officers conducting stop-and-search operations in various locations, including Onigarri, Ayetoro, Ijebu-Ode, Sagamu, Long Bridge, Alapako, Ogunmakin, and in the Abeokuta area. Divisional Police Officers, under the supervision of Area Commanders, will be on patrol in their respective jurisdictions.
It also said border towns will experience joint task force operations in collaboration with extended sister security agencies for continuous surveillance , stop-and-search patrols.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, noted in a press statement that the initiatives by the Command aim to facilitate safe travel and celebration, and the public is further encouraged to support security efforts for better effectiveness.
Odutola who is a Chief Superintendent of Police, said: "Given the anticipated influx of visitors in Ogun State for the festivities, there can be no better time for ogun State Police Command to solicit for patience as thorough security checks will be conducted.
"Conventional and Mobile Police Officers will be visibly stationed at prayer grounds and strategically positioned to prevent attacks and deter criminal activity. Specialized units focused on anti-cultism, anti-kidnapping, and tactical operations will also be present in tertiary institutions, where cooperation from students is essential, especially those who may not have processed their break.
