PETER OBI'S VISIT TO BAUCHI STATE GOVERNOR SETS TONGUES WAGGING

2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has met behind closed doors with Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, at the Government House, popularly known as Ramat House in the state capital.

The rare meeting between Peter Obi and Governor Mohammed, who is a chieftain of the main opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has set tongues wagging, with several commentators reading political meanings in relations to the next general elections in 2027.

In a statement on his X.com handle @SenBalaMohammed confirming the meeting, Governor Mohammed said “I had the honour of receiving the 2023 Labour Party Presidential Candidate and former Governor of Anambra State, H.E Mr. Peter Obi, along with his entourage.”

Governor Mohamed said during the discussions, he reiterated his unwavering commitment to fostering unity and combating division, emphasizing that patriotism remained the foundation of a brighter future for the nation Nigeria.

He commended Mr. Obi for his visit and acknowledged his dedication to nation-building and inclusive leadership. “His commitment to engaging with key stakeholders and contributing to national discourse is truly commendable” the Bauchi State Governor noted.

The statement further revealed that Mr. Peter Obi had earlier stated that his visit was to express his condolences over recent losses, and to engage in meaningful discussions on national issues, and deepen consultations with relevant stakeholders.

Peter Obi was accompanied on the visit by former Minister of Finance, Mrs. Nenadi Usman, among other dignitaries. Together, they also paid homage to His Royal Highness, the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji (Dr.) Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, at his palace.
