POLICE COMB BENUE FOREST FOR 12 KIDNAPPED TRAVELLERS FROM OGUN STATE
Operatives of the Benue State Police Command have launched a search for travelers who were attacked and kidnapped on their way from Abeokuta, Ogun State, to Makurdi, in Benue State.
The Benue State Transport Company, owners of the Benue Links vehicle, confirmed that the travelers were attacked by gunmen on Sunday.
The company’s Information Officer, JOHNSON DANIEL, disclosed in a statement that there were twelve passengers on board the vehicle, in addition to the driver.
Similarly, the Benue State Police Command confirmed in a separate statement that the bus conveying the travelers was attacked on Sunday evening at Eke Elengbecho, in Okpokwu Local Government Area.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP UDEME EDET, told reporters that one of the abducted passengers, identified as PAUL TERNS, was rescued during a joint security operation.
DSP EDET also disclosed that the Hummer bus was recovered from the roadside at Inugbokolo, where it was abandoned.
