POLICE INVESTIGATE EXPLOSION INSIDE CCTV DEALER SHOP AT IKEJA, LAGOS

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed an explosion at a shop along Kodesho Street, around Computer village, Ikeja.

The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the blast occurred at about 1835hrs, Friday, April 11, 2025, inside a CCTV camera dealer's shop.

CSP Hundeyin said people inside the who sustained injuries have been taken to hospital for treatment, while police have cordoned off the scene of the explosion.

Hundeyin disclosed in a statement that operatives of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit, the Mobile Police Detachment and Conventional Police Teams have been deployed in the area.

He said the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, arrived at the scene within minutes for an on-the-spot assessment. "He has assured the public that the Command is fully on top of the situation and has urged residents of Lagos to remain calm and not to panic."

The PPRO said "while investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the explosion and other factors that might have caused the incident, the general public are enjoined to go about their lawful engagements and businesses peacefully without fear or apprehension, as the scene of the explosion and the adjoining area have been rendered safe and secured.
