SEXUAL HARASSMENT SAGA: PRO-AKPABIO SUPPORTERS AGAIN STORM NATIONAL ASSEMBLY
Hundreds of supporters of the President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio, have staged a solidarity rally in Abuja for the second time since the sexual harassment allegation made by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Senator Uduaghan who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly had while answering questions during an interview on a television channel accused the Senate President of sexual harassment.
The Senator alleged that the incident happened at Senator Akpabio’s country home in Akwa Ibom State, when she and her husband were invited to the birthday celebration of the Senate President.
Reports from Abuja indicate that at least three separate groups of pro-Akpabio protesters stormed the National Assembly complex on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, in a show of solidarity with the President of the Senate.
The demonstrators who were seen outside the entrance of the National Assembly complex, also backed the six-month suspension slammed on Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
They accused the Kogi Central Senator of trying to blackmail the Senate after she was stripped of the chairmanship of the committee on Local content.
Recall that when a group of supporters of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan staged a solidarity rally in Abuja last week, they were chased away by the police and other law enforcement operatives.
