SUSWAN N3.2b Fraud Trial Delayed Due to Absence of Defence Counsel

The trial of former governor of Benue State, GABRIEL SUSWAN, for alleged Three-Point-One Billion Naira fraud, has been further stalled due to the absence of the defence lawyer.

The case before Justice PETER LIFU of the Federal High Court Abuja was fixed for final adoption of written address on Friday last week, October 2, before the court was informed of the lead defence counsel, J.P DAUDU, Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

SUSWAM is standing trial alongside his former Commissioner of Finance, OKOLOBIA OKPANACHI, in a nine-count charge of alleged diversion brought against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

At the resumed consideration of the case, the Prosecution counsel, O.A. ATOLAGBE, informed the court that DAUDU had travelled for the International Bar Conference and requested for adjournment.

Following the development, Justice LIFU adjourned the matter to November 6, 2026, for the adoption of final written addresses.
