LAGOS POLICE ARREST FIVE CAR SNATCHERS, ACCOMPLICE BUYER

Five suspected car snatchers operating around the Lekki axis of Lagos State have come to the end of the road, following their arrest by operatives from the Ilasan Division of the Lagos State Police Command.

Detectives picked up the suspected car snatchers, along with the buyer of one of the vehicles they stole following a complaint filed by a taxi driver on August 1, 2025.

The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP BENJAMINI HUNDEYIN, disclosed in a statement that the taxi driver had reported that three men requested that he drove them from the Jakande Estate axis in Lekki.

The complainant said during the trip, one of the passengers pointed a pistol at him, forced him out of the vehicle and they drove away with the car.

The PPRO said following a detailed investigation of the case, detectives arrested FAVOUR SUNDAY, 25; IKOT MOSES, 28; DICKSON IGHOBUE HARRISON, 35; JOSHUA ADEDAMOLA, 27; and DANIEL JONATHAN, 26.

He said further investigation revealed that the suspects sold the vehicle for ₦500,000 (Five Hundred Thousand Naira) to one WASIU ARINOLA, 40, who dismantled the car and sold the parts separately.

The Police spokesman said ARINOLA was arrested in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, while efforts are ongoing to recover the pistol used by the suspects in the robbery operation, and also to trace other vehicles they may have stolen and disposed.

Following the development, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, OLOHUNDARE JIMOH, assured residents and visitors that their safety and security remain top priorities of the Command, as he urged members of the public to always assist the police with useful information on criminal activities for prompt response.
