The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two suspects in a case of suspected ritual murder of a sixteen-year-old boy in the Ijebu axis of the state.

The suspects, identified as Salawu Omikansola and Serefusi Agemo, both male, are alleged to have conspired with others at large to murder the victim.

The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, confirmed that the suspects were arrested by officers from Omu-Ijebu Division based on credible intelligence.

CSP Odutola also disclosed in a statement that one of the suspects has made a voluntary confessional statement, which was also recorded on video.

Odutola said the police launched an investigation into the case after Master Lawal Wahab was reported missing by his father, Mr. Lawal Olumide, while he was staying with his grandmother.

The police spokeswoman said lifeless and decomposed body of the body was later discovered along the Old Express Road, Igbile-Ijebu, on July 23rd, 2025.

She said a preliminary examination on the body revealed that the head and both wrists had been chopped off, just as the heart and genitals were removed.

The Police Public Relations Officer said the deceased has since been buried in accordance with Islamic rites, while the case file, alongside exhibits are to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, for further investigation.

Meanwhile, she said the Ogun State Police Command condemns the heinous act and assures the public that justice will be pursued to its logical conclusion, as efforts are ongoing to arrest other fleeing accomplices.
