NDLEA NABS TWO BRAZILIAN RETURNEES FOR COCAINE, HEROIN SMUGGLING BY INGESTION

Operatives of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested two Nigerian returnees from Brazil for cocaine and heroin smuggling through ingestion.

The Brazilian returnees, identified as OFOMA SUNDAY and UKACHUKWU FRANK IKECHUKWU, excreted one hundred and sixteen wraps of heroin and cocaine.

The two suspects were arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja Lagos, and placed under close observation for days.

Forty-six-year-old OFOMA SUNDAY was arrested on Tuesday September 16, 2025, which led to a raid at a hotel in Amuwo Odofin where fifty-five-year-old NWEKE JUDE CHUKWUDI was arrested while supervising the excretion of the ingested hard drugs.

Similarly, UKACHUKWU FRANK IKECHUKWU was also arrested at the Lagos airport on his arrival from Brazil on Friday September 19, and he expelled five big wraps of cocaine, weighing one hundred and forty-five grams.

NDLEA’s Head of Media and Advocacy, FEMI BABAFEMI, confirmed the arrest of the suspects in a statement, detailing the weekly summary of operations of various commands in the last seven days.

BABAFEMI also confirmed the arrest of a woman identified as OKOLONKWO EBERE THERESA was on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at the Lagos airport for alleged concealment of illicit drug in her underwear while attempting to board a flight to Doha, Qatar.

He said after a thorough search, two big parcels of methamphetamine were recovered from her butt pad underwear, saying that the woman claimed to have been recruited from Enugu, where she sells clothes and also operates a mobile cash outlet.
