POLICE ARREST MURDER SUSPECT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SELL VICTIM'S CAR
Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested one Ayomide Oluwadamilare over the gruesome killing of onr Kola Adun, a resident of River Valley Estate, Ojodu Berger, whose decomposing body was discovered in his home.
25-year-old Ayomide Oluwadamilare was arrested after he attempted to sell the Toyota salon he stole from his victim to a car dealer in Ijede, Ikorodu, Lagos State.
The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, said in a statement that the dealer contacted the police, leading to the prompt arrest of the suspect at the point of sale.
CSP Odutola said the Divisional Police Officer of Ojodu-Abiodun Division received a distress call from Mubarak area in Akute on Monday, July 7, 2025, about an unusual stench from a residence of Kola Adun.
The PPRO said officers were immediately dispatched to Ogunmoyero Street, River Valley Estate, where they forced their way into the premises and found the decomposing body of Adun on the first floor, bearing visible stab wounds, while his Toyota Camry car was missing.
She said the police learned that the first sign of suspicion was raised on Sunday morning, July 6, when a friend of the deceased went to pick him up for church service but discovered that the gate was locked from the outside and calls to the victim went unanswered before the phone was switched off.
The Police spokeswoman said preliminary investigation indicated that his former driver, Ayomide Oluwadamilare, had unlawfully entered the residence on Saturday, July 5, 2025, with the intent to rob him. He ended up stabbing the victim to death and fled with the deceased’s vehicle.
CSP Omolola Odutola said the remains of the deceased have been evacuated to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, for autopsy, while the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Abeokuta, for discreet investigation and prosecution.
