POLICE NAB 7 SUSPECTS OVER MURDER OF PORT HARCOURT LAWYER

Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have arrested seven suspects linked to the killing of a lawyer, BRIGHT OWHOR, 46, along Market Road, Rumuomasi, Port Harcourt, on July 6, 2025.

The Public Relations officer, Superintendent of Police, GRACE IRINGE-KOKO, said in a statement that operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit identified and arrested the suspects meticulous intelligence and surveillance over a period of ten days.

The suspects include PRINCE SAMUEL, DANIEL GODWIN, and HENRY PETER - the suspected arms supplier who is also alleged to have fired the gunshot that killed the victim.

Others are GODFREY EMMANUEL, the gang leader, CHUKWU NNEJI, JUSTICE DIMKPA, and PROMISE WIKERE, the handler of stolen vehicles.

The statement further revealed that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to being members of the Deygbam Secret Cult Group and admitted to their roles in the murder, withdrawal of funds from the victim's bank account, and involvement in recent cult-related violence in Diobu, Port Harcourt.

The PPRO said exhibits recovered from the suspects include four locally made pistols, seven rounds of 9mm ammunition, two live cartridges, one Mini Bus, and a Toyota Camry.

She said the Commissioner of Police Rivers State, OLUGBENGA ADEPOJU, has commended the operational prowess of the operatives, saying it underscores the commitment of the Command to the safety and security of all residents.
