Wanted Drug Baron Arrested in Ikota, Lagos, As NDLEA Recovers Large Quantities of Enhanced Cannabis Variants

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested one FRANK CHIJIOKE IBEMESI, after weeks of surveillance on his criminal activities.

IBEMESI, who also goes by the alias CHISCO BEE, was nabbed in the early hours of Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Daisy Garden Hotel on Ago Palace Way, in Isolo, Lagos.

The forty-two-year-old suspected drug baron was tracked down by operatives of the NDLEA’s Special Operations Unit.

NDLEA spokesman, FEMI BABAFEMI, said the suspect later led the operatives to his warehouse, also within Ago Palace Way, where jumbo bags and cartons stuffed with Loud variant of Cannabis, weighing over one thousand, seven hundred kilograms, was recovered.

BABAFEMI further disclosed in statement that the NDLEA also various sums of foreign currencies, including US dollars, British pounds, Euros and Canadian dollars from the suspect.

In a related development; NDLEA operatives have foiled an attempt by a drug syndicate operating from Orita-Apeje, in Araromi-Okeodo forest reserve, in Ife South Local Government Area of Osun State, to distribute large quantities of the Skunk variant of cannabis, weighing over eleven thousand kilograms, to different parts of the country.

NDLEA’s Head of Media and Advocacy, FEMI BABAFEMI, said operatives recorded the breakthrough after days of surveillance in the forest, before intercepting two trucks that were being used to transport the illicit consignments.

BABAFEMI said operatives also arrested seven suspects in connection to the seizure, whose names were given as LUCKY ABIODUN, JULIUS AMOS, VICTOR NGBIKILI, SUNDAY ODUEGWU, IBRAHIM AKANNI, EZE GODSTIME, and FRED IFEANYICHUKWU.
