Nnamdi Kanu Makes U-turn on Terrorism Trial, Refuses to Open Defence

The trial of pro-Biafra agitator, NNAMDU KANU, for alleged terrorism, has suffered a major setback at the Federal High Court in Abuja, after he refused to open his defence today, Monday, October 27, 2025, as originally planned.

Instead, when the case came up for hearing before Justice JAMES OMOTOSHO, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, said he had dropped his plan to call witnesses.

NNAMDI KANU said having gone through the case-file, he realised that there was no valid charge against him and that he was being subjected to unlawful trial.

However, Justice OMOTOSHO asked him to file a written address to that effect and serve the prosecution, just as he advised KANU to consult criminal law experts on the consequences of the option he has chosen.

Following the development, Justice OMOTOSHO adjourned the matter till November 4th, 5th and 6th for the adoption of the final written addresses.
